A FANTASY
Martin Cohen
In sixth grade I was small, non-social, a loudmouth, a physical coward
A natural victim
He was somewhat larger, strong, fast, fearless
And cruel
I was one of his many targets
Who could do nothing
My only weapon
The library
Card catalog
Bicycles
Maintenance and repair
Problem solving
Problem solving?
Problem causing!
Turn to tighten?
Turn to loosen!
A little each day
He cut through traffic
No more!
Didn’t know that he would die
Just wanted to stop the pain
But
I suddenly realized
Killing him felt so good
Didn’t know that killing would make me feel so good
Now I knew
And it still does
Every time
