Michael J. Shepley ~ March

with cold camera
and sandpaper eyes
caught in cactus time
where tear drinker
beasts suffer endless,
silence drains
whorled ears
leaving just a drone

when whipcrack
dawn the sun
makes flayed stone
begin to fearful moan
and burnt skeleton trees
refuse to share
their stingy shade

here some strange
abstract spider brain
planted a tangle
of razor wire
borderline insane
where once were
introduced the very
ships of the Sahara

reclaims all
skull and bones
inside a mirage

Mike Shepley has written journalism, computer game text, brochures, political s..tuff, fiction – short, long, endless, and poetry. Some four dozen poems have caught ink or pixels in various (small lit) publications since the late 90s.
