The street thug found
a wad of crumpled bills
in the dying man’s pocket
while nearby the rent-a-cop
studiously looked aside

NEW YORK ARGUES FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD IN CENTRAL PARK

Seven perfect pigeons atop
the angel of Bethesda Fountain.
Free yellow waders to keep
your feet dry,
and a tiny girl with a violin that makes
a midwestern grandmother cry.
A dried leaf falls onto my notebook page.
Quod erat demonstrandum.
